LOT Antique WWI Composition Paper Mache Toy Soldiers Militia Infantry Figurines

ESTATE FIND: Very rare composition soldiers from WWI - six in all, mounted on rectangular bases (in some cases marked JAPAN) measuring 3 1/4" tall. Infantry foot soldiers, these are in good condition with the following to note:
5 riflemen, one flag bearer. All figures mounted on black rectangular bases, which in some cases is stamped JAPAN. Limbs are intact on 4, one is missing his left hand and forearm, and one pour soul is missing his head. His left ankle is also broken but remaining in position; that seems to be the least of his worries (!). Rifles are bent and look as though they could be carefully straightened. Paint is worn at several edges, especially where the helmets meet their painted faces. A 6th figure looks to be a flag bearer because of his stance and a pin-sized hole going into his hand. The flag is missing and both his legs are cracked but remining in position.
