AN ORIGINAL VINTAGE JAPANESE ONE-SHEET POSTER FROM THE 1966 RELEASE GAMERA VS BARUGON. This is not a reproduction. Godzilla, Gamera and other kaiju related posters of this vintage RARELY come up for sale on eBay or elsewhere. Especially Japanese vintage kaiju posters. Especially ESPECIALLY Gamera posters. So this is a rare opportunity.
I bought this in June of 1999 from Showcase Collectibles out of Atlanta, Georgia which at the time was advertising within the pages of the fanzine "G-Fan". The original invoice of when I purchased this in 1999 will be included with the sale (for your records). Showcase Collectibles was the premier continental US Godzilla related collectibles store and seemed to always have the best stuff. One day I called to see if they had any vintage Gamera Japanese posters. This is what they had and I went for it.
I've never displayed this poster and for the past 20+ years it has remained in my collection, carefully stored with the rest of my posters and other collectibles. I now know I'll never get it framed as I can only frame so many posters and keep the wife happy(!)...and it's high time for me to part with some posters I've been hanging on to all these years and finding them a good home. Including this gem.
This poster is in the same condition as when I received it. I've alway kept it rolled in a plastic sleeve and in its own mailing tube...taking it out once a year or so to give my eyes a feast. Poster is approximately 20.25" x 28.75" (or 51.45cm x 73.03cm) and will be sent rolled in a hard round shipping tube.

AGAIN this is NOT a reproduction. It is unrestored and a good candidate for linen backing...and could be considered a good investment as these original Japanese kaiju posters from the 60s are becoming extremely difficult to find and are highly desirable. I know because I have been searching for a few select posters for 20 years.
This poster does have some condition flaws as the pics note...nothing major especially for a poster that is over 50 years old...I just want to ensure transparency. This poster was folded at one time...I assume this is how it was distributed when it was originally issued. Regardless I have kept it rolled since I've had it the past 20 years (as that is how it came to me). There are a few small edge tears and stress creases. There is some writing and tape repair on the back of the poster (see the last 2 pics)...that do not detract from the front of the poster. Corners are in excellent condition and the colors remain vivid. If I were to attempt to rate it via the "iGuide Universal 10-Point Movie Poster Grading Scale" (see below)...I would give this a C6. Despite the condition flaws this is really a beautiful poster.
