    Description

For sale - 4 Ca. 1918 Glass Photo Plate Slides - WWI - 13th Eng Regiment - Verdun Area  hr.
One photo is of locomotive used in joint operations with the french.  Another is of an artillery platform in operations near La Cousance.  A third shows rail tunnel portal near the Argonne hills, and the last shows rail car couplers. The source for these photographic dry plate slides served during World War I with of the 13th Engineer Regiment (Railway) in France.  The 13th Engineer Regiment was formed in May 1917 and sent to France in July 1917. The regiment operated standard gauge railroads in the Verdun area
. This individual later worked for many years with the Illinois Central Railroad.  Most slides in his possession relate to the Illinois Central Railroad and came from that railroad.  The photo plates here date 1918-1919 and were taken by the employee himself during his tour of duty in France and England.  The glass slides measure approximately 4 1/8" x 3 1/8".
