Description
The 85th Division, part of the National Army, was formed at Camp Custer, MI, in 1917-1918. It arrived in France, less the 339th Infantry Regiment and part of the 310th Engineer Regiment, in early August 1918. The Division artillery and some support units were detached and assigned as corps and army troops, while the rest of the Division was re-designated as the 4th Depot Division. Almost immediately it began to send troops to the 1st, 3rd, and 35th Divisions, among others.PLEASE REVIEW ALL THE PICTURES AS THEY ARE PART OF MY DESCRIPTION.
